This video is to start a discussion on the eternal topic of translation.

What is the most difficult and most rewarding thing about translation?

Being able to tell someone important facts, interesting novels and poems; something he would never know because he can`t read it in the author`s language is REWARDING.

There´s an Italian saying : The translator is a traitor".
And so, not being able to tell exactly what is written or said in another language is FRUSTATING.

According to Humberto Eco,
"The job of translation is a trial and error process, very similar to what happens in an Oriental bazaar when you are buying a carpet. The merchant asks 100, you offer 10 and after an hour of bargaining you agree on 50".
